The Story Behind the Catalogue

Hi! I'm Tracy! I've been creating The Crunchy Catalogue during any free moment I have between cooking, cleaning, and raising my two girls in my little townhouse with my husband.

I've been in the natural health and "crunchy" world for over 15 years now and I'm so passionate and excited about it that I can't help but talk about it any chance I get. 

Doctors dismissed my issues, a global pandemic forced us all indoors in front of screens and away from sunlight and fresh air, our food pyramid is useless, and all I want to do is get to the root cause- why are we all sick? Why are we all so tired, so depressed, so anxious, etc.

I've had two homebirths, make our food from scratch, grow an organic vegetable garden, reach for herbs over drugs when sick, and I'm always making healthy swaps for products around my home.

I've switched most of my makeup, hair care, and skin care products to natural alternatives, so it just made sense to investigate my clothing next. I got rid of most plastic in my kitchen so why would I want to cover my skin-and sweat- in plastic all day long in the form of polyester clothing. That led me down the rabbit hole of natural fibers. 

After switching much of my clothes over to natural fibers- only shopping and thrifting for 100% cotton, wool, and linen- I accidentally fell down another rabbit hole. The toxic world of natural fibers!! I was shocked. I started learning that cotton is one of the most heavily pesticide-sprayed crops. Then, to top it off, it's bathed, coated, and heavily processed with so many other toxic chemicals for a cheaper way to make a finished piece of clothing.

I knew there had to be a better alternative. I worked so hard to thrift and purchase exclusively 100% cotton, yet I was still bathing my largest organ in pesticides, formaldehyde, heavy metals, and PFAS. That's when I discovered organic clothes. This was a whole new world for me. I had been shopping for some organic foods yet I never considered looking for organic clothes before. 

And that's why I started The Crunchy Catalogue! Although transitioning my entire wardrobe over to organic natural fibers might be unrealistic or at least a lifelong journey- I love knowing that a basic, every day staple item like a T-shirt is not adding to my toxic load every day.

I spent soooo many months trying to source 100% organic cotton apparel and I'm so excited that I've finally been able to create a collection of products that are made entirely with GOTS-certified organic cotton, dyed with non-toxic, heavy metal-free dyes, and not processed with any of the toxic chemicals in conventional clothing.

Here you'll find all organic clothes with designs that range from funny and controversial, ultra-specific crunchy girl inside jokes to simple, beautiful, classic designs similar to what you can find in popular mainstream stores but never before on an organic shirt.
